from the From the land of english tutor celebrities and curry flavored chips

something food:

this week at the yw activity i ate curry flavored chips and dried squid jerky. you would love it dad! it's not anything like beek jerky, but the same idea...:) there are somany weird flavors of things here that you would never ever find in america. it makes grocery shopping so exciting every week!

something exciting!

so, i am staying in Tai Wai for round 3 with my trainer sister vance! that's kind of unusual, but we have a lot of work and miracles to finish up here in Tai Wai so it is a good thing. we also have some long time investigators that just set a baptismal date! wahoo! it has taken a while to get them to this point. we are praying and hoping that everything works out! our district is pretty different as we have 4 new elders and 2 of them are whitewashing, but they are good missionaries and will help us make some changes and get things rolling around here!

something cool:

so,if you want to be a celebrity, it is easier than you think. just come to china and teach english. yes, the english tutors here and like celebrities. they have huge pictures and poster of themselves all dressed up and plastered on billboards and buses all over. the cool thing here is to speak english, so they are in high demand and they get paid a boat load. if i didn't have other plans after the mission, i would come back here and teach english and be rich!...::) just kidding...

something funny:

having trouble sleeping? i have just the cure!missionaries! yes, missionaries are an automatic sleeping pill guaranteed to knock you out in approx. 3 seconds. how do i know this? i have proven this theory many times. in fact, just today on the mtr i tried it and it worked like a charm. every person i tried to talk to on the mtr one second was awake and the next thing i knew they were sound asleep! it's magic! works everytime!.....:)

something hot:

well, i guess i am officially chinese. even though i am sweating boatloads and its ridiculously hot outside, i can still drink hot chocolate in themiddle of summer! mostly for tim tam slam purposes, but it hit me today that i don'tmind drinking hot drinks anymore. crazy.

something spiritual:

so, yesterday we went to our bishop's house and made cookies with his wife and one of our investigators. it has been a long time since i made cookies. and cookies here are a commodity and chinese people think they are the coolest things ever.most people don't have ovens here and rarely bake. we tied it into the scriptures 2 peter 1:5-8 and Luke 12:31. it was the percect spiritual thought with food involved. if you need a good idea foran activity with a spiritual twist, try it out!
